Hong Kong, 2 September, 2005 -- As more businesses seek ways to cost-effectively integrate color into everyday documents and have the freedom to work in the most efficient and productive way, Fuji Xerox Printers launches two new Phaser™ solid ink printers - Phaser 8500/8550 and three multi-function machines - WorkCentre 220/222/228 offering more color options and allowing more powerful document management at every stage from creation to printing, scanning, copying, faxing and e-mailing to meet the price and performance needs of customers.

The Phaser 8500 and Phaser 8550 solid ink color printer series are designed to allow small to large offices to affordably create smart-looking color documents. The printers offer unmatched capabilities, with the fastest solid ink printing speed of 24 and 36 pages-per-minute respectively, and a five-second first-page-out time on the Phaser 8550.

Phaser 8500 and Phaser 8550: High-Quality Color with Xerox Solid Ink

Building on Xerox's proprietary solid ink technology platform, Xerox offers the Phaser 8500 for small to midsized offices looking for high-quality color printer at an affordable price. The Phaser 8500 prints up to 24 ppm in color and black-and-white and is easy to install, maintain and use.

Printing at up to 30 ppm in color and black-and-white, the Phaser 8550 has a 600 MHz processor and an industry-leading first-page-out time of less than 5 seconds.

Solid ink technology provides a wide color gamut. Exceptional image quality is achieved through Xerox's 2400 FinePoint™ technology and Genuine Adobe Postscript 3. It prints on a variety of media including card stock, envelopes and transparencies. In addition, the printers handle custom page sizes from 3.5" x 5" to 8.5" x 14" paper, providing the flexibility that businesses need to create everything from sales proposals and presentations to promotional brochures.

A new feature found in Phaser 8550, called Personal Print, allows people to download jobs to a printer's hard drive and into a virtual personal mailbox. Stored documents can then be printed all at once. And the Usage Analysis Tool allows administrators to easily collect, organize and analyze print job accounting data from multiple printers and use the information to calculate charge-back billing data for other departments.

WorkCentre 220/222/228 Laser Multi-function Printers - Multi-function efficiency from the printer and document expert

Equipped with the function of printer, copier, scanner and facsimile (for WorkCentre 222 and 228 only) WorkCentre 220/222/228 provides customers with excellent values in terms of efficiency, performance and ease of use.

The machines produce crisp and clean 600 x 600dpi printout at a fast print/copy speed up to 20 pages per minute (ppm) with a first page out time of only 13 seconds. To enhance the connectivity, the WorkCentre 220/222 comes equipped with a USB 2.0 and a parallel IEEE 1284 printer interface, and the WorkCentre228 even includes 10/100Base-TX interface card for connecting to your office LAN. The WorkCentre 228, which boasts PCL6 and PostScript Level 3 emulation, allows you to print reports containing embedded graphics and images.

The WorkCentre 220/222/228 produces crystal clear scans of up to 600 x 2400 dpi for both color and monochrome documents. Depending on the type of document, you can choose from either Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) or flat-bad scanning. Unique double-sided document scanning is available saving half the scanning time comparing to traditional single-sided scanners at the same speed. The WorkCentre 222/228 comes with a scan-to e-mail feature.

The WorkCentre 222/228 includes a feature-packed facsimile machine. The fax speed reaches 2.5 seconds per page. Equipped with 8 MB memory that you can store up to 500 documents. There is also a handy phonebook feature that stores up to 500 speed dial recipients and 32 group dials for broadcasting. You can also use the WorkCentre 222/228 to send and receive both color and black and white messages using e-mail and FTP without a computer. A variety of different reports can be printed on-demand or automatically easy tracking.

The Phaser 8500/8550 and the WorkCentre 220/222/228 series are now available at an affordable price from HK$8,488 and HK$3,988 respectively. The printer comes with one-year on-site warranty and is available immediately through Fuji Xerox Printers authorized dealers and resellers.
